Sky's The Limit For Ladies Bracelet Winner

FRENCH Martini stamped herself a potential superstar when she sensationally won the G3 Ladies Bracelet at Wentworth Park on Saturday.

FRENCH Martini stamped herself a potential superstar when she sensationally won the Group 3 Ladies Bracelet (520m) at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Peter Lagogiane knows everything about success on Million Dollar Chase night having won the race twice and he has always rated French Martini (Aston Dee Bee-Sheez My Chicki) one of the best greyhounds he has prepared.

French Martini led throughout to win by Ladies Bracelet by five lengths in a scorching 29.46 for her fifth win in just seven starts.

She downed Ties That Bind with four and three quarters to Mckeon Bale in third.

It took her stakes to $63,000.

French Martini gave nothing else a chance spearing to the front through a first section of 5.38 which set up the Ladies Bracelet victory.

Lagogiane had won the race in 2021 with Pay Call in 29.44 then the fastest female ever over 520m at Wentworth Park.

French Martini shared favouritism for the final with third placed Mckeon Bale at $3.20.

Lagogiane has always declared French Martini a superstar, even before she made her debut with a near The Gardens track record of 29.22.

“No, I never considered the Million Dollar Chase for her,” said Peter. “She is not mature enough at this stage for a race like that.

“But, come September and October this year, she certainly will be.”

That will be the stage for the second Million Dollar Chase in 2022.

Owner Adam Brandt could not be at Wenty for the Bracelet victory. He was MC at a wedding.

“The wedding all watched the race and Adam told me the cheering that went on was amazing,” said Peter.

It was Adam who dropped off French Martini and her two littermates to the Lagogiane kennel immediately after education at John Martin's Casino property.

“I was not here when Adam left the three of them,” said Peter. “He told my wife Jodie the bitch was a superstar. That was the report from John Martin.

“Adam was so confident in the bitch he would not send her anywhere. She came straight here after education. The three littermates were just 14 months old.”

Lagogiane cannot help but be impressed by the bitch's performances.

“For her to run that time at 22 months of age is phenomenal,” he said. “We are not sure what to do with her now.

“She's a good traveller and the Sapphire Crown is coming up in Melbourne. But, Adam and I will have a good talk about the immediate plans.”

She's A Pearl won the Million Dollar Chase in 29.32, a MDC race record, and French Martini was just a length and three-quarters outside that performance.

But Lagogiane was never about to take on the MDC and a record-breaking She's A Pearl.

“After Andy and Jodie's bitch won the Million Dollar Chase, I made sure I asked them what their plans for She's A Pearl were,” said Peter.

“They assured me she is having a good break.”

Lagogiane knows he has “something special” in French Martini.

“I've also got her litter brother, Break Wall, about to start and he is almost as good.

There's a tip for the future.
