Sky's The Limit For Unbeaten Paua Of Janie

DAVID Jones says his hugely exciting youngster Paua Of Janie will soon shift to Victoria after making it four straight victories to begin her career on Friday.

WAGGA owner-trainer David Jones says his hugely exciting youngster Paua Of Janie will soon shift to Victoria after making it four straight victories to begin her career on Friday.

The unbeaten daughter of Aston Dee Bee and Paua To Admit has created a massive impression in a very short period of time which has resulted in Jones planning to fast track her move south.

"Early doors she was only going average so she's crept up on me a bit," Jones said.

"The others I have in the litter were going better but I found a tear in her abductor muscle a while back which I was hoping was the reason she was only going steady. And it was – she's gone to another level since coming back from that.

"The tear was only at stage one but could have quite quickly gone to two or three. And the best thing is she just keeps improving – I haven't done that much with her for where she's at."

By exciting new season sire Aston Dee Bee out of Paua To Admit, dam of Warragul track record holder Paua Of Oscar, Paua Of Janie made her debut at Wagga on November 27 with a near record 18.12 victory over the 320 metres.

A week later the 19-month old scored in 18.31 over the short course before stepping up to the 400 metres for a dazzling 10-length romp in 22.69.

And at her most recent appearance on Friday she made it four from four with arguably her most impressive performance, overcoming a slow start and interference to win running away in 23.09.

"The day she ran 22.69 was the first time she'd been over 400 metres," Jones said.

"And she went 10.48 which is absolutely flying as well.

"But the other day showed me she's got plenty of guts as well – she just chases like a demon.

"When they do things wrong and still find a way to win you know you've got something very handy.

"She's 30 ½ kilos and looks like a picture. I'm just deciding now whether she stays here and goes around in the final (at Wagga) or she goes to Melbourne next week. I'll decide in the next few days."

On Tuesday night at Lismore, Paua Of Mindy, a sister to Paua Of Janie, debuts for leading Queensland trainer Tony Brett in a heat of the rich Ladbrokes Maiden series (420m).

Back in 2016 Brett and Jones combined with Paua To Avoid to share the Group 2 Vince Curry Maiden Classic at Ipswich with fellow dead-heater Split Image, also trained by Brett.

"I haven't really spoken to Tony about how she's going but he must be happy enough for her to be in," Jones said.

"She was breaking the 23 seconds at Wagga before she went to Tony and she goes very good – the whole litter does.

"There's some nice ones in the litter and her next litter to Sennachie are five months old and they look magnificent as well."
