Sooty Keeping's ‘One' National Futurity Worry

SOOTY Keeping has drawn the rails in a quest for the G1 National Futurity at Wentworth Park on Saturday that has been her connections plan for some weeks.

EXCITING youngster Sooty Keeping has drawn the rails in a quest for the Group 1 National Futurity (520m) at Wentworth Park on Saturday night that has been her connections plan for some weeks.

The daughter of Feral Franky-Rema's Jade is fresh from a scorching 29.05 Gosford Cup Consolation win last Friday night, her ninth win in 18 starts for owner-trainer Charmaine Roberts.

Charmaine's partner, Shayne Stiff, said the rails would help bring Sooty Keeping out at the start.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK SATURDAY NIGHT

"It is her one worry," Stiff said.

"But, she drew the red at Dubbo and Richmond very early days in her career and she won both.

"Hopefully it will bring her out on Saturday night.

"We have had the Futurity as her target for some time now.

“The run at Gosford was fantastic.

‘We had not taken her there to trial before she ran in the heats, so we really expected her to improve at her second run on the track and she did.”

Charmaine's uncle Ed Foyle bred the litter which was reared at their Dubbo property.

Sooty Keeping will exit box one in her National Futurity heat on Saturday

"This bitch broke in one of the fastest we have ever had and her early times were right up there," he added.

Sooty Keeping turns two on Wednesday but she is already a Wentworth Park winner in 29.40, has won The Collerson in 29.47 and been a finalist in the G3 SA Oaks.

"Things didn't go right for her in the final at Angle Park," said Shayne.

"But, driving her over to Adelaide three weeks in a row was also the making of her.

"Tripping away like that really matures them.

"Fortunately, she also loves Wentworth Park."

A trip to Victoria could be on the cards after the Futurity series for Sooty Keeping.

Only three heats of the Futurity will be run.
