Sparkle Motion Rockets to Oaks Victory

SPARKLE Motion justified her favourtism for Sunday’s Healesville Oaks Final, leading from go to whoa in the $7,000 to-the-winner feature for Keith and Lisa Hellmuth.

BEAUTIFULLY bred youngster Sparkle Motion justified her favourtism for Sunday's Healesville Oaks Final (350m), leading from go to whoa in the $7,000 to-the-winner feature for Keith and Lisa Hellmuth.

Showing terrific speed in her heat before finishing second to Chloe Louise, an unfortunate scratching from Sunday's finale, Sparkle Motion landed a sixth career win from 24 starts at the weekend, recording 19.37 to defeat Blue Glitter by 1 ¾ lengths.

A daughter of Magic Sprite and Flash Riot, the litter of four has proven to be wonderful money spinners for Keith and Lisa, winning 25 of their 71 starts thus far, with stake earning upwards of $60,000.

Later in the afternoon, the Healesville Derby was run and won, with the feature event for the boys going the way of Riddles for trainer Paul Ellul.

Defeating Solid Bling by 2 ½ lengths in a smart 19.22, the son of Barcia Bale claimed an eighth career win with Sunday's success in the $7,000 to-the-winner feature.

The fastest time of the day was recorded by Garry Selkrig's comeback galloper Peter Galo, last year's Shepparton Cup hero scorching over the 350 metres in 18.88, just a length outside his personal best time of 18.79.

Plagued with injuries, hopefully Selkrig now gets a clear run at things with the son of Peter Rocket, who incidentally was trained throughout his stellar Group 1 winning career by Keith and Lisa Hellmuth, winners of the Oaks with Sparkle Motion.
