QUEENSLAND group race sprinting star Magistrate, after 34 wins and $508,000 amassed in stake money over 90 starts, has been retired to stud.

The Fernando Bale-Inspired Hope dog's trainer Greg Stella announced this today and that the great sprinter would stand for a service fee of $1100.

"We have already had inquiries about using him at stud," Stella said.

Magistrate has virtually been a top grade performer from early in his career.

He held the Ipswich 431m track record at 24.49.

But, he was also winner of the Group 3 Origin Sprint, G3 Ipswich Auction, the Auction Sprint and Ipswich Cup Consolation.

He was second in the G3 Casino Cup and Million Dollar Chase Consolation.

He was third in the G1 Gold Bullion, G2 Flying Amy Classic, twice third in the G2 Qld Flame and an Ipswich Young Guns.

And, he was a finalist in the G1 Brisbane Cup, G3 Albion Park Young Guns and G3 Origin Sprint.

"He was a very special dog, possessed of great early pace, and a fabulous chaser," said Greg.

"And, he shares the first section record at Albion Park with Orchestrate and he is at stud in Ireland now.

"He was sound right throughout his race career."

Magistrate comes from a fabulous litter that also includes Journalist (17 wins, $64,000), Inspired Reason (18 wins, $51,000), Our Opals (23 wins, $88,000), Seven Sinners (24 wins, $127,000) and Notification (9 wins, $28,000).

His dam, Inspired Hope was a Capalaba Futurity finalist, but a litter sister to such racetrack stars as Stinger Noir, Sequana, Made In America and No Easy Beat all of them Group or feature race stars.

Magistrate was bred and raced by Donna Darcy.

"It was a wonderful ride through some great races," said Greg Stella. "He raced the best and beat most of them."
