Staines Trio Ready To Rip In Super Series Final

TRAINER Ken Staines believes all three of his finalists in Thursday's Ladbrokes Maiden Series Final (411m) at Casino will be greatly improved.

VETERAN Waterview Heights trainer Ken Staines believes all three of his finalists in Thursday's Ladbrokes Maiden Series Final (411m) at Casino will be greatly improved.

“Actually,” said Ken. “All three of them went into the series about three weeks earlier than I normally would like to start them.”

Country Double (Dyna Double One-City Breeze) ran 23.47 the equal fastest of the three maiden heats last week, while kennelmate Oliver Izmir (El Grand Senor-Skye Izmir) downed littermate Sabre Izmir in 23.78 to win another of the heats.

The third heat went to Evelyn Harris' Dashing Display (Fernando Bale-Magic Display) and Staines rates her the hardest for his trio to beat.

“They've looked after me with the box draw for the final,” joked Ken after the trio drew five, six and seven.

“But, I expect a lot of improvement from them because it was their first race experience. Country Double handled the whole race experience much better than the other two.

“There is not a lot between the three of mine.”

Of their chances for the final, Staines believes Country Double could be worried by Sabre Izmir drawing on his outside.

“Sabre Izmir likes to get to the fence,” said Staines.

“Of the three of them, I like Oliver Izmir a lot. I think he will improve a great deal.

“All three will make nice race dogs and now that they have got last week's race experience, they will again go well.

“The wide box draws should not really worry any of my three.”

Staines rated Dashing Display the hardest to beat because of its extra race experience on the majority of the final field.

Dashing Display has raced 12 times for just one win in the maiden heat last week.

It is royally bred by champion sire Fernando Bale from Golden Easter Egg finalist Magic Display.
