Star Brothers Sidelined With Injury

The Group 1 TAB Topgun and Group 2 TAB Stayers Topgun are a month away, and Meadows Manager Marg Long says excitement is building for the richest invitation-only race in the world.

Both races will be held at The Meadows on October 27, with Long announcing some of the major criteria the TOPGUN panel will be using when helping to determine the final field in the coming weeks.

"Greyhound Racing Victoria have provided updated Aged Prizemoney details for greyhounds on a regular basis as that – along with Group race results – are the two main criteria that will be used when choosing the final fields for both races."

"Upcoming Group races such as the Adelaide Cup – to be held on October 12 – will also have a bearing on the final field, so it promises to be an exciting few weeks in the lead up to one of our premier nights of racing."

"The TOPGUN panel will meet and make their recommendations on the final fields before the GRV Grading Department  make their final determination. The final fields will be announced on Sky Channel's The Catching Pen on Tuesday, October 16, with the box draw to be held on track on Saturday, October 20."

This year's Golden Easter Egg winner Up Hill Jill (pictured) heads the list of sprinters on the aged prizemoney list, and recorded her first win since returning from injury at The Meadows over the weekend. The Group 2 TAB Stayers Topgun looks set to be the most open in years after trainer Rob Britton confirmed that No.1 and No. 2 aged-prizemoney stayers Tornado Tears (hock) and Rippin' Sam (sesamoid) will miss the race through injury. The superstar brothers are expected to miss 6-8 weeks of racing.
