Star Qld Youngster Heading South For Launching Pad

EXCITING youngster Professor Snitch will be transferred this week to trainer Steve White to be prepared for the upcoming Group 3 Launching Pad.

EXCITING Queensland youngster Professor Snitch will be transferred this week to Victorian trainer Steve White to be prepared for the upcoming Group 3 Launching Pad series.

The $150,000-to-the-winner Launching Pad, over 515m at Sandown, will be run on March 23 and 30 with the final on April 6.

White confirmed the fabulous daughter of Sennachie and Fabwik would arrive in Victoria on Tuesday. Her litter brother Professor Sirius, winner at two of his three starts, will also head south.

Kerry Hoggan and her husband Ian prepared Professor Snitch for a sensational race debut, winning over 431m at Ipswich on debut on January 24 when she smashed the maiden class record.

She made her Albion Park debut on Thursday night in a tough field of Novice stars when winning stylishly.

“She's very young, but very promising,” said Steve. “Being by Sennachie made me watch that debut back in January and who would not have been impressed by what we all saw.

“Once we get through the Launching Pad series, I will probably swap her back to one-turn racing on provincial tracks.

“Her sort of early pace will be ideal for that while she is learning her trade.

“She and her brother are just two more of Sennachie's great start to his stud career.”

Professor Snitch clashed with boom youngsters Wendy Rocks and recent Group 3 Vince Curry Maiden winner Elisheba in last Thursday night's Novice (520m) at Albion Park.

Toss in some recent Vince Curry Maiden finalists like King Of Cool and Stone Cold Blue and the like, and it was a race to be savoured.

And, that's how it turned out. But the race was not without drama.

Professor Snitch missed the start hopelessly.

Adam McIntosh's  Elisheba flew out and set up a commanding first-turn lead.

And John Dart's Wendy Rocks, who her trainer boasts will be a top line stayer when the time comes, settled mid-field.

In the end, Professor Snitch again confirmed she is an exciting youngster.

After that dismal beginning, she had made up lengths to be on Elisheba's tail into the back straight and dashed to the front coming to the home turn.

It was left to the power of Wendy Rocks to rattle home and run “Snitchy” to a neck in 30.14 a time that would have been much quicker if the winner had jumped.

For owners Arlene Roy and her daughter Vanessa Heather it was their first city winner at their first runner. They are living the dream.

John Dart would not swap Wendy Rocks for any of Thursday night's rivals, nor would Adam McIntosh.

It was a Novice to savour. They often are.
