Interstate Stars Unleashed On Capalaba Cup

THE warm-up to the Capalaba Cup series is taking on unprecedented importance after scorching trials by southern visitors.

Victorian Unleash Collinda, from the Jason Thompson kennel, reeled off a 19.72 trial at Capalaba on Tuesday.

This followed 19.53 and 19.62 Capalaba trials by last start Group 2 Healesville Cup winner Sacred Stance from the Michelle Sultana kennel.

FIELDS AND FORM FOR CAPALABA ON SUNDAY

Thompson, as usual, sent Unleash Collinda to Tony Brett to prepare for the Capalaba Cup.

“I told his owners that a morning trial of about 20 seconds would be fabulous first up for Unleash Collinda,” said Thompson. “But, for him to trial 19.72 was better than we could have hoped for.

“He had never been behind a drag lure before.”

Thompson rates highly the son of Beast Unleashed-Audacious Bell, a litter brother to record breaking Mr Audacious.

“He's a really good chaser and his straight form down here is great,” he said.

“His only hiccup is he can be a bit tardy early.

“I hope he draws in the middle.”

Sacred Stance cut his hock coming out of the boxes when trialling 19.62 at his second look at Capalaba but the son of Beast Unleashed-Adorable Lady is fine according to Sultana.

“He is so good, I wish Sunday was today,” she said.

Sultana is hoping Sacred Stance draws off the track at Capalaba.

“He did it the hard way at Healesville, but got the job done (off box three),” she said.

“But, up Capalaba, he has followed the drag lure each time in those two trials.

“They were all touting the Healesville Cup as the best straight track field put together in its history.

“But, this Capalaba Cup is looming to be so much stronger. What a lot of depth it will have.”

Sultana and partner Daryl Thomas are staying with Mick and Selena Zammit during their Capalaba Cup campaign. Thomas has brought Ace Quality for the series as well.

“He is a very fast dog but probably needs a couple of runs up Capalaba to be best suited,” said Thomas.

“But, if he happened to bring his A game, he would give them something to think about.”
