Straight Of Origin Battle Lines Announced

THE straight race clash between Queensland and NSW stars, the Straight Of Origin, will run for a cool winner’s cheque of $40,000 in 2025.

THE glamour straight race clash between Queensland and NSW stars, the Straight Of Origin will again run for a winner's cheque of $40,000 in 2025.

The clash, between each state's four straight track stars will be held at Capalaba on Sunday, June 1.

The race will carry overall prizemoney of $63,500 with the breakdown being: 1st $40,000, 2nd $10,000, 3rd $5000, 4th $2500, Unplaced $1500.

 Four representatives each from QLD and NSW, plus a reserve from each state will make up the field, as usual and the teams will be selected by Racing Qld and GRNSW respectively.

Representatives for each state will be announced on May 19 and the box draw will be done on May 25 by QRIC stewards.

The 2024 Straight of Origin was won by Jedda Cutlack's That's Hot which downed Valhalla and Hotel Whiskey One in an all-Queensland finish.

Queensland Eligibility:

A greyhound is eligible to be nominated for Qld if it has been domiciled in Qld for at least 76 of the 150 days immediately preceding June 1.

If the greyhound has not been trained for a total or 76 days in its career, it will be deemed to be eligible for Qld if it has been trained in Qld for all its race starts.

A greyhound shall be deemed to be domiciled in Qld starting on the date on which the change of kennel notification form (or equivalent evidence produced) is received by QRIC.

New South Wales Eligibility:

A greyhound is eligible to be nominated for NSW if it has been domiciled in NSW for at least 76 of the 150 days immediately preceding June 1.

If the greyhound has not been trained for a total or 76 days in its career, it will be deemed to be eligible for NSW if it has been trained in NSW for all its race starts.
