IT took flashy galloper Wicked Quality every inch of the Maitland 400 metres to claim last Thursday's Ladbrokes Monthly Medal Final in 22.81.

Starting a warm favourite for the $2,700 to-the-winner event after qualifying fastest with a slick 22.38 heat success, the son of Awesome Project and All Quality relished the wide open spaces at Maitland, scoring by a head from Riden's Reach in a ding-dong finish.

Sketchy Halo finished third just another head away, with Wicked Quality's final victory his fifth on the trot for trainer Sam Sultana, now boasting an overall record of eight wins from the 19 starts.

Wicked Quality returns to Maitland this Thursday where he lines up in race four over the 450m in a heat of the City Hotels Challenge, and ideally drawn out in box seven, looks a fantastic chance of continuing his winning run.
