Super Noms For Brisbane Cup

Forty of Australia's best greyhounds have been nominated to contest the new $375,000 Group 1 Sky Racing Brisbane Cup ahead of next week's heats at Albion Park.

The heats will determine the field for the final, which will be contested on the new $500,000 Super Night at the same venue on Thursday, July 4.

Among the nominations are seven individual Group 1 winners including, Barooga Brett, Deliver, Dyna Patty, Mystic Riot, Neo Cleo, Orson Allen and Zipping Bailey.

Local stars Dam Slippery, Infrared Star, Regal Recall, Big Bad Bob, Brandi Alexander and Maurice Minor, among others, have also been entered.

Racing Queensland's Greyhound Manager (Operations) Doug Lutherborrow said he was pleased to see so many Group 1 winners entered to compete.

"The Group 1 Sky Racing Brisbane Cup shapes to be the highlight in what has already been a tremendous TAB Queensland Winter Racing Carnival," Mr Lutherborrow said.

"With $250,000 on offer to the winner it comes as no surprise to see the caliber of greyhounds nominated."

The top-10 greyhounds have been seeded based on aged prizemoney earned and will be distributed evenly (two seeded runners per-heat) throughout the five heats. Boxes will be drawn for the heats on Monday, June 24. The box draw for the final will be conducted on Thursday, June 27, following the heats at Albion Park.
