Surprise Packet Earns New Sensation Tilt

SIX weeks ago in-form trainer Scott Tyson was plotting a fruitful short course career with his exciting charge Black Zambora.

But after recently stringing together back-to-back Wentworth Park victories in the matter of four days, Tyson has the fashionably bred daughter of Zambora Brockie ready to go in Wednesday night's heats of the Group 3 New Sensation.

"She's kind of crept up on me a bit with how well she's going," Tyson, 47, said.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK WEDNESDAY NIGHT

"Early on I thought she was going to make a top notch short courser but I trialled her at Gosford one morning and she went 29.65 getting to the line better than I expected.

"So I pushed on with her and she's just kept finding a bit each time. I'd say she can get down to 30 dead on Wednesday night but she'll run her 5.45 early which puts her in the race.

"She's entitled to a crack at it the way she's going."

With just three kennels at his Bateau Bay home, Tyson has been riding the crest of a winning wave recently.

In fact his past 11 starters have resulted in eight winners and two seconds.

That includes the hugely exciting Zambora Tiger, a litter sister to Black Zambora, which scored at Maitland on Monday night in a brilliant 22.25 over the 400 metres and has won three of her four appearances.

"She's six lengths faster than Black Zambora – always has been, she's very good," beamed Tyson.

"I actually thought she'd go quicker on Monday night at Maitland but apparently the track had been turned that week.

"She's screaming out for 500 and went great in a box-to-box at Wentworth Park last Thursday. I'm looking at the Nowra Puppy Classic with both her and her sister."

Wednesday night's four heats of the New Sensation have brought together a stellar line-up of up and coming chasers all chasing group race glory.

TAB Fixed Odds have Black Sambora a $6.50 chance in heat one from her box two draw where the favourite is Jodie Lord's exciting prospect Doonan at $2.60 (box seven).

Winner at four of his five starts, Doonan has a Wentworth Park best of 29.71.

"My bitch can't run that but she should get herself into the race with her early speed," Tyson said.

"But I don't want a heavy surface because that won't suit her at all. The constant rain around is a concern, I definitely want her on top of the ground."

In race 11 on Wednesday night the Robert Tyson-trained Send It Tiger steps out from box four.

"My brother (Robert) trains him out of my place," Scott said.

"He is a little bit behind the bitches but is a good sized dog and I think he'll run a good race Wednesday. He didn't have a lot of luck last start there and can improve."

Tyson's winning run continues the great success he's enjoyed from offspring of his top brood Prancing Tiger, her progeny so far responsible for 130 race wins and $323,342 in stakes.

"She's been a great producer," Tyson said.

"Each litter there's been a city winner. She has the run of it at home on the lounge. I'm planning a fifth litter to either Aston Dee Bee or Aston Rupee.”
