Talented Tassie Chaser To Call Sydney Home

FORMER Tasmanian Highland Wonder returns to Wentworth Park on Wednesday just four days after taking on G1 company at the Glebe circuit.

VERSATILE Tasmanian Highland Wonder heads back to Wentworth Park on Wednesday night just four days after taking on group 1 company in the National Distance Final (520m) at the Glebe circuit.

Now based with the vastly experienced Greg Hore at Goulburn, Highland Wonder steps back to 520m yet the NSW grading system works against the prolific winning son of Aston Dee Bee.

"He's rising four years of age and (trainer) David (Croswell) thought it's best to race up here where there is more opportunity, more tracks," Hore said.

"The downside is that the dog is penalised for all his wins in Tasmania but his unplaced runs are not counted in order to drop back in grade.

FIELDS AND FORM WENTWORTH PARK WEDNESDAY

"It's something which GRNSW's graders know about … interstate dogs are cruelly penalised when coming here so there is no incentive for trainers to travel.

"The only upside is that he's grade five on a Saturday (at Wentworth Park) but everywhere else he's fourth grade or higher.”

Prior to the 720 metre outing at the weekend, the light fawn dog had trialled solidly without being spectacular at Wentworth Park over 520m some 10 days prior to the Distance Championship and is just now settling into his new environment.

"He's a front running type over a little more ground but lacks genuine pace in sprints," Hore added.

"The grading is a real issue but he turns four in October and will be a chance to compete against similarly aged, older dogs in Masters company in five weeks time.

"That might be his time to shine and then we can, hopefully, pick off a few middle distance races at Dapto, Nowra and Richmond."

Earlier in the night, boom youngster Zipping Orlando is drawn to add to his impressive unbeaten record in race three.

A determined railer with a power-laden finish, Zipping Orlando secured the rich Zoom Top Maiden Final at Goulburn on August 5 before posted scorching times (29.58 and 29.53) in successive Wentworth Park starts on August 17 and 24.

At only 19 months of age, he's one of the most talented juveniles in the land and, from box two, is expected to get the job done on Wednesday in comfortable fashion.
