Tasmanian GOTY Finalists Announced

HELLO Rhonda, Raging Ralston and Stop Line have been announced as the three finalists for the 2019 Tasmanian Greyhound of The Year award.

HELLO Rhonda, Raging Ralston and Stop Line have been announced as the 2019 Tasmanian Greyhound of The Year finalists.

Tasracing, in conjunction with the Greyhound of the Year Selection panel, have announced the final three contenders for the Greyhound of the Year Award to be presented at the Launceston Cup and Annual Awards Dinner at the TAB Racing Centre, Launceston on Saturday night, February 15.

Any one of these greyhounds has the credentials to take out the award and the selection panel will have a difficult time determining the ultimate winner.

A summary of the achievements of the three finalist are as follows:

Hello Rhonda

She is a white and brindle bitch whelped in September 2016 by Fernando Bale from Sing The Son and is owned by Robert and Robin Grubb and trained by Robin at St Leonards.

Her major wins include:She won 14 races and ran 10 placings from 33 starts in 2019 being unplaced on only nine occasions.

  • A heat and the final of the A Total Car Rentals Launceston Cup – a National Group 2 event
  • A heat of the Winter Tasbred Cup at Devonport
  • A heat of the J G Nelson Series Division 1 at Launceston
  • A heat and the final of the Crocmedia Tasmanian Sprint Championship at Launceston
  • A heat of the Steve King Ladies Bracelet at Launceston
  • The Billy Grice Memorial at Hobart.

She represented Tasmania in the Group 1 National Sprint Championship at Cannington in Western Australia finishing 5th in the event.

Raging Ralston

He is a black dog whelped in October 2017 by My Bro Fabio from Broadway Miss and is owned by the Kane It Syndicate in Benalla, Victoria and is trained by Ted Medhurst at Mangalore.

His major wins include:He won 17 races and ran 5 placings from 25 starts in 2019, being unplaced on only three occasions.

  • The M A Morgan Stakes at Hobart
  • The M A Morgan St Leger at Hobart
  • A Heat of the Tasmanian Gold Cup at Hobart
  • A heat of the Ladbrokes Hobart Thousand

He had an impressive record at Hobart with 10 wins and one placing from 13 starts and he set a track record in October of 25.46 for the 461 metres only to have it broken by his kennel mate the following week.

Stop Line

He is a black dog whelped in February 2016 by St. Pierre from Topline Doovee and is owned by Debbie Cannan and Rodney Stamford and is trained by Jillian Stamford at Westbury.

His major wins include:He won 20 races and ran 7 placings from 34 starts in 2019, being unplaced on only seven occasions.

He was recognised as a Devonport track specialist having won 16 races and 5 placings from 23 starts at the track – all of them in top grade races in 2019.

The finalist voted Greyhound of the Year will be announced at the Launceston Cup and Annual Awards Dinner at Launceston on Saturday night 15 February 2020.
