GOOD Odds Cobber has continued arguably the greatest ever start to a calendar year of racing with a gritty victory in the G3 Temora Cup on Sunday night.

GOOD Odds Cobber has continued arguably the greatest ever start to a calendar year of racing with a gritty victory in the Group 3 Temora Cup (457m) on Sunday night.
In landing the $40,000-to-the-winner feature, Good Odds Cobber claimed a fourth group race for 2025, following previous successes in the Group 1 Gold Bullion, Group 2 Golden Ticket and Group 2 Bulli Gold Cup.
The Temora win took the six-time group winner's overall record to 35 wins from 60 starts for Frank and Tracey Hurst with his stake earnings swelling to an eye-watering $820,005.
Hurst will now turn his attention to the fast approaching Group 1 Golden Easter Egg with the superstar son of Fernando Bale where he is the current $8 series favourite in all in betting.
Good Odds Cobber signalled his Golden Easter Egg credentials recently with a slashing 29.21 victory at the Glebe circuit.
"The Temora Cup wasn't on our radar at first but it's hard to get a run with him being a free for all so we decided to put him when we saw the race was on," Frank Hurst said.
"Initially I was just going to put him in the heats but some good judges told me you need to trial here so we did over 330m and he went alright and then finished second in his heat to a really good dog.
"The box draw was kind to us in the final drawing the one and from there we knew he had a good chance.
"Good dogs make their own luck and he did tonight. He doesn't know when he's beaten, he's got a huge heart, just a mighty race dog."
Good Odds Cobber ran 25.52 to claim the Temora Cup defeating Speedy Pie by 1 ½ lengths on the line.
Third was Richmond Oaks winner Sooty Keeping which confirmed she was one of the leading hopes for the Golden Easter Egg which gets underway on Saturday week.
In the Temora Cup Consolation it was Speedy Lightning which reigned supreme, defeating Stew Bob by three-quarters of a length in 25.56.
Finishing third was race favourite Joey The Jet.
