Sorry Scott Eyes Mosman Opal Finals Berth

SATURDAY's Wentworth Park program is shaping up as one of the best of the year with four heats of the Vic Peters Cup & Peter Mosman Opal set down for decision.

SATURDAY night's Wentworth Park program is shaping up as one of the best of the year with four heats of the Group 1 Vic Peters Cup and Peter Mosman Opal set down for decision.

With first and second from both sets of heats progressing through to next week's $75,000 to-the-winner finals, some superbly bred youngsters are set to take part in the series', the Vic Peters catering for the boys while the Peter Mosman Opal is restricted to the girls.

Staged for the first time this year under the new, and it would appear, successful format, pre-post series favourite for the Vic Peters Cup is star of the moment Feral Franky, chasing seven wins on the trot for trainer Jack Smith.

A dashing last start winner of the $75,000 to-the-winner Flying Amy Classic at Albion Park, Feral Franky returns to Wentworth Park in the fourth and final Vic Peters heat this Saturday, his previous nine outings at the Glebe circuit resulting in three wins and six placings, including victory in the Group 3 New Sensation on Easter Saturday.

A $3.50 chance to claim next week's Group 1 final, Feral Franky is quoted a $2.05 chance with Bet365 for Saturday night's heat, with Good Odds Buddy (7) and Victorian Spearhead (8) next in betting at $6.00 apiece.

The opening Vic Peters Cup heat sees Victorian's Black Signature (5) and Weblec Jack (7) hold sway in betting at $2.70 and $4.00 respectively, with the best of the locals Scorched (6) for Jason Magri at $5.50.

Heat two will see Jason Magri's King Cratos (8) start favourite at around $2.20 from his suitable draw, while heat three, which has been marred by scratchings, will see Frank Hurst's top flight galloper Good Odds Harada start favourite from the inside alley, tackling hugely exciting Victorian prospect Mister Harlewood for trainer Jeff Britton.

The first heat of the Peter Mosman Opal for the girls sees series favourite Sorry Scott go about her business for Andrew and Adam Crouch, the daughter of Barcia Bale set to start around the $2.40 mark, fresh off last week's scintillating 29.65 city success, the fifth of her career at the Glebe circuit.

Heat two appears the most open of the night with three equal favourites early doors at $3.50 each – Aston Peregrine (2), Really Unreal (4) and Fran's Bonus (7).

Fran's Bonus, a daughter of Dyna Double One, put her name up in lights with a dynamite display at her Wentworth Park debut last week, scoring in a fast 29.79.

The last of the Mosman heats will see Nichole and Tony Mason's Miley Nismo go around favourite from box two.

A litter sister to series elect Sorry Scott, Miley Nismo is better drawn wider but with the speed to burn through and lead, she looks a fantastic chance in what's a ‘stacked' final heat, including the likes of Start A Riot (6), Timeless Moment (8) and Ritza Vonnie (5).

Start A Riot, a flying all-the-way last start winner of the Winter Cup at Cranbourne, makes her Wentworth Park debut for Keith and Lisa Hellmuth, and capable of running dazzling sectionals, looks one of the major contenders to topple the favourite.
