The Meadows Preview: My $7 Each-Way Special

MICK Floyd previews Saturday night's quality meeting at The Meadows where his best bet comes around in race four from the seven box.

WHILE many of greyhound racing's stars head north for the Brisbane winter carnival, a chance at a city win beckons for 12 greyhounds at the Meadows on Saturday night.

While the meeting lacks star power, it does offer the potential for value for punters.

FIELDS AND FORM THE MEADOWS SATURDAY NIGHT

Best: Fernando's Quest (race 4, box 7)

Has built a really handy record over the middle distance, winning six and placed five times in 16 starts between 595m and 660m. Got a little tired in a heat of the Sandown Cup over 715m but bounced back with a smart all-of-the-way win this trip and distance last time out. This is no harder, he should get room early despite drawing box 7 and will be hard to run down. The clear top pick.

Next best: Alcindor (race 11, box 1)

Started only moderately at Sandown Park last time out but railed strongly to lead all but the final stride in reasonable time for that grade. Drawn the red here and with a lack of pace in the field, expect him to lead and give them something to chase.

Each way: Flying Foxy (race 3, box 1)

Should be at peak fitness now lining up for his fifth start from a three month spell. Raced over the middle distances in the second half of 2021 so expect him to continue to improve with racing. He led clearly in his heat and is capable of doing the same here, and with the potential for trouble at the first turn coupled with a return to tighter circuit, Flying Foxy is a good each way chance at around the $7 mark.

Quaddie:  2345 / 18 / 12478 / 1238 = 31.25% for $50
