Tim Zoo Locked In For $600,000 The Sandgroper

DUAL Group 1 winner Tim Zoo has cemented a spot in the $600,000 The Sandgroper (520m) at Cannington on Thursday, April 24.

The Jason Thompson-trained son of Aussie Infrared will race for race sponsor TABtouch, joining Canya All Class (Mintbet) and Miss Envy (Sportsbet) as guaranteed starters in the race.

Winner at 22 of his 48 starts, Tim Zoo has been in devastating form to begin 2025, winning the Group 1 Temlee before finishing a narrow second in his defence of the Group 1 Australian Cup.

Tim Zoo is the third greyhound confirmed to compete in the TABtouch Sandgroper on April 24.

The winner of $684,350 in stake earnings was meant to start in last Friday night's Group 2 Horsham Cup but was withdrawn with injury. The race was won by kennelmate Flying Zulu.

Heading the market for The Sandgroper at $5.50 is Excavation which is a $5.50 equal favourite with WA golden girl Miss Envy.

Excavation is expected to race in the Awesome Lodge slot for the feature event which is the greyhound leg of the lucrative Western Trilogy Series.

Race sponsor TABtouch are eyeing a maiden win in the race after finishing third last year with representative Morton.
