SUPERSTAR sprinter Unleash Collinda has been retired to stud.

Owner Stephanie Tyler announced this today after the dog tore a back muscle at Healesville as the $1.20 favourite on Sunday.

“Our advice was that the injury was fixable but he is rising four and that would take another six months,” said Stephanie.

“We decided he has done what he needs to do.”

Unleash Collinda has been a special race dog for trainer Jason Thompson.

He ran two tracks records at Healesville and won the Group 2 Traralgon Cup just three starts back.

But, he has a remarkable feature race record.

As well as his Traralgon Cup victory, he also won the G3 National Straight Track Championship at Healesville.

He was second in the G2 Shepparton Cup, G2 Ballarat Cup, G2 Healesville Cup.

And he was a finalist in the G2 Healesville Cup, G2 Bendigo Cup, G3 Capalaba Cup and the Pink Diamond Champion Sprinter.

“He has a home with us forever,” said Stephanie.

“However, we are confident he will be accepted by broodbitch owners.

“Mick Stringer had him for the Hobart 1000 series and he has just bought a straw for a bitch of his to be mated this week.”

Unleash Collinda stands for a fee of $1650.

“It is a shame he did not go out on a winning note – he just seemed so invincible.

“The vet at the track gave him just 10 days for the injury so it shows just how tough a dog he is. He walked off the Healesville track on Sunday appearing to be OK.

“But, when he was checked over on Monday the real extent of his injury was obvious.”

Unleash Collinda's very first litter of pups is from group 1 winner Collinda Patty.
