Top Greyhound Racing Bets For Thursday, August 22

ON the back of some eye-catching sprint performances recently, we are with Uno Fabio to land a 17th career victory at Albion Park tonight.

A two-time group race finalist, the powerhouse son of My Bro Fabio has a booming finish on him and on the back of some outstanding 520 metre efforts, he looks primed for his middle distance return this evening.

SANDOWN PARK – Race 2 (6.24pm) Number 5, KEEFE

Youngster showing potential for in-form trainer Terry Reid and expect a bold showing at his Sandown debut tonight. Quoted around the $3.40 mark in early betting which looks appealing despite the box five draw. Has only had the three starts, including a smart Meadows maiden win and gives the impression he'll be suited to Sandown. His trainer is batting at a 30% winning strike-rate at Sandown as well … expect he gives a good sight.

MAITLAND – Race 10 (6.55pm) Number 8, COPPERHEAD ROGUE

Not often we trot off to Maitland for one of our better bets but expect this northern rivers speedster to prove mighty hard to beat in the last. Comes to Maitland with some outstanding recent form beside his name, including a dashing 16.07 280-metre sprint win at Wentworth Park two runs back. Makes his Maitland debut from the suitable box eight draw and I'm with him to get the better of Plumb, who looks the only danger on paper.

MURRAY BRIDGE – Race 4 (8.19pm) Number 5, ROAD TRAVELLED

Murray Bridge replaces Angle Park tonight and I doubt the venue change will halt the winning run of Road Travelled, successful at his past five. Ran a cracking 22.26 to score here on Sunday defeating Spring Sniper who he meets again tonight and at around the even money quote expect he continues on his merry winning way. The vacant draw to his outside is a significant plus as well given his racing pattern.

DAPTO – Race 6 (9.13pm) Number 8, BLUE SUMMER SKY

Betting suggests it's a two-dog race between Just Terms and Blue Summer Sky and after doing the form it's hard to argue. At the slightly better odds I'm with Blue Summer Sky who I think will appreciate the wide draw from this bend start. Hasn't had much go his way in recent city distance starts so looking past that. This looks much more to his liking and if he can make use of the draw should take a power of beating.

ALBION PARK – Race 8 (9.19pm) Number 3, UNO FABIO

Has been outstanding in three 520m runs back from a break and stepping back up to the 600m tonight should take a stack of beating. Powerhouse galloper when in full swing and his recent performances are a huge push for him tonight. Needs to knock over Infrared Lad who generally has a mortgage on these races, but he's drawn the pink, a box he's won from just once in nine attempts.

** LAY **: SANDOWN PARK – Race 12 (10.08pm) Number 3, OPTIMUS DUSTY

We've been having some luck getting our lays rolled recently and let's hope it continues tonight. We've gone all the way to the last at Sandown where Optimus Dusty is around the $1.80 mark. Made it 4 from 7 with a slowish 30.09 win here off the red Sunday when $1.10 … it's a small field tonight but I couldn't take the odds on quote with a few in the race showing similar ability at the early stages of their careers.

BEST BET: ALBION PARK – Race 8 (9.19pm) Number 3, UNO FABIO

BEST VALUE: ALBION PARK – Race 2 (7.02pm) Number 6, VAL'S BOY

Has talent but his winning strike-rate isn't anything to write home about. In saying that, I don't mind the wider draw tonight and if he steps cleanly and puts his best foot forward certainly has the ability to get away with this … hopefully at the decent price on the offing early as well.
