FRENCH Martini heads to The Meadows on Saturday night to trial with a number of big-time goals firmly on the agenda in Melbourne.

FRENCH Martini heads to The Meadows on Saturday night to trial with a number of big-time goals.

The daughter of Aston Dee Bee-Sheez My Chicki is aiming at the Topgun, Melbourne Cup and can put her hand up for inclusion in The Phoenix.

French Martini has started just 19 times for 11 wins and earned $142,000 her “CV” including wins in the G2 Black Top, G3 Ladies Bracelet, a scorching Gardens track record of 28.96, a third in the G3 New Sensation and finals berths in the Million Dollar Chase, G1 Peter Mosman Opal and G2 Flying Amy Classic.

All that in just 19 career starts.

Connections, owner Adam Brandt and trainer Peter Lagogiane, are determined to give her a chance in all the glamour Melbourne races coming up.

“She will trial between races at The Meadows on Saturday night and it will be a learning curve for her,” said Lagogiane.

“It will be a chance to trial from totally different boxes on a new track and away from home.

“It will be a feeler run and if we feel she needs another look at the track we might do that.”

But Lagogiane says the great bitch always improves with one look at a track.

“The Topgun is our target, but we have had a couple of feelers from slot holders for The Phoenix,” he said.

“If she didn't handle The Meadows as well as we would hope, there is always the Melbourne Cup at Sandown.

“The next six to eight weeks is very special.”
