Two Time G1 Winner To ‘Deliver' At Stud

DAVID Brasch delves into the stud prospects of two-time group 1 winning chaser Deliver, the son of champion Fernando Bale priced at $1,650.

WITH the influx of sons of Fernando Bale heading to stud, and many, many to come in the future, broodbitch owners will be looking for them to fulfill numerous criteria in a bid to achieve success.

One such dog could be Deliver (Fernando Bale-Veetee Saharrah by Fabregas).

Deliver is a class act.

Winner of the Group 1 Vic Peters and Group 1 Rookie Rebel, he also won the Maidment Memorial and was third in the Group 1 Australian Cup.

Champion stud dogs often have a common feature … they have almost always broken one or more track records during their race career. Deliver did just that running 29.71 at Wagga.

But he could also run hot times wherever he raced and stretched his great speed to a middle distance winning at the highest level over 600m.

He has started 42 times for 22 wins and eight placings earning $304,000 in stakes. It is a race career well worthy of a place in the stud ranks.

Deliver came from a litter of six named offspring and five of them were winners.

Granddam Black Saharrah (22 wins, $77,000) was a classy race bitch who made the finals of the Group 1 Maturity and Laurels and the Group 2 Cranbourne Cup.

Her litter sister Budgie Lass (10 wins, $43,000) also made the Laurels final and then was mated to Barcia Bale to produce Group star Shadale (G3 Dillon Memorial, 3rd G1 Maturity, multiple Group finalist).

Yet another litter sister, Coolan Miss (17 wins, $67,000), was also a finalist in the Laurels but also made the final of the G2 McKenna Memorial.

To Collision, she is the dam of Coolan Boy (19 wins, $37,000) and to Barcia Bale she has produced Coolan Flash (17 wins, $27,000), Coolan King (11 wins, $27,000) and It's All Over (13 wins).

So, what will make Deliver do just that when he retires to stud?

There are NUMEROUS opportunities for him to achieve. Many stud dogs retire more on hope than the expectation of success in their new career. With many, their pedigrees do not allow line breeding to many, many of the bloodlines so readily available to them.

Many are destined to fail simply because their pedigree does not allow them to match with most bitches they will mate.

With Deliver, this is far from the case. His pedigree is chock full of options for broodbitch owners.

Deliver is bred on the successful cross of Fernando Bale over a daughter of Fabregas. The commonality here is that Fernando's dam Chloe Allen is bred on an identical cross to Fabregas.

Group star Slingshot Gypsy is also bred on this cross.

So, Fabregas will be an important factor in the success of Deliver at stud.

Which means broodbitches with Collision, Surf Lorian, Bekim Bale, Droopys Kewell and especially Big Daddy Cool will be ideally suited to matings to Deliver.

That's because all these lines have already been proven with Fabregas himself.

Black Saharrah (2nd dam of Deliver) is by Meticulous from the Puzzle Prize bitch Giddigan and she also carries Head Honcho in her damline.

Topgun winner Meticulous, who has done very well with the Wheeler bloodlines, is bred identically to Where's Pedro, Hallucinate, Crash and Carnage, by Brett Lee from a daughter of Bobniak.

Thus bitches with any of these stud dogs in their make-up should suit Deliver.

That obviously means Barcia Bale who has Hallucinate as his damsire.

Also, Barcia Bale's genetic sister Searle Bale was mated to Fernando Bale to produce G1 Australian Cup winner Hecton Bale.

That means daughters of Barcia Bale are an absolute MUST for Deliver.

But, Deliver is incredibly in-bred to the famed “Portrait” family through Primo Uno (damsire of Fernando Bale) and through the damline of Meticulous.

It has become an incredibly successful cross … check out the pedigree of current young star Shima Shine.

While writing of Shima Shine (a son of Barcia Bale), his dam brings in Dyna Tron so bitches who carry him up close in their pedigree should also suit Deliver.

Of particular interest for Deliver would be daughters of Cosmic Chief who is identical to Meticulous.

Fernando's G1 sons Poke The Bear and Out Of Range are bred on a reinforcement of the “Portrait” family.

Puzzle Prize was a real speed star on the racetrack and therein also lies another avenue for broodbitch owners to utilise Deliver.

Puzzle Prize's litter brother Knockabout Wok is found up close in the pedigree of Knocka Norris and his great sister Elite Oriental.

Token Prince is bred identically to Puzzle Prize's dam Princess Rema (both by Malawi's Prince and from a daughter of Amerigo Man).

Thus Token Prince too will be an important ancestor when it comes to matings to Deliver.

The Group stars Punch One Out and Unlawful Entry are bred on this cross.

Bitches with a DAUGHTER of Solve The Puzzle should also be a must when looking at matings to Deliver.

I would also think bitches with Jarvis Bale in their pedigree should suit a potential mating to Deliver. Remember this! Jarvis Bale is a half brother to Fernando's dam Chloe Allen.

But he is also by Sonic Flight who just happens to be a half brother to Larkhill Jo who is found so importantly in the pedigree of Deliver.

Surely Paul Wheeler has a Jarvis Bale bitch up there at Young waiting to be mated to Deliver … the result could be phenomenal.
