SPRINT star Typhoon Sammy makes a comeback to racing after almost four months on the sidelines when he lines up for a 400m 3rd-4th Grade at Geelong on Friday night.

And the Jason Thompson-trained star has drawn the rails.

Typhoon Sammy (Aston Dee Bee-Zabaleta) has not raced since he tore his gut muscle at Warragul on January 6 when last behind Landyn Bale in a heat of the Cup at that track.

FIELDS AND FORM GEELONG FRIDAY

He has won 43 races from 71 starts for stakes of $309,000.

Owner, John Dart, said today he was looking forward to the sprint star's racing return.

“Jason has kept him in light work all the time, on the walking machine and a bit of free galloping,” said John.

“He got the OK to start galloping him again and Jason said the dog absolutely flew in a slip at Geelong on Monday.

“It followed a couple of 300 metre trials at Healesville and a slip at Bendigo.

“Jason said the other night he believes he is going better than ever.”

Typhoon Sammy comes up against another sprint sensation in Ferdinand Boy from the David Geall kennel, winner of 52 races and earnings of $553,000.

“I've had a good look at the form and believe our bloke will be extra hard to beat,” said Dart.

Typhoon Sammy has set a track record at Bendigo during his career and won the Group 2 Country Cups at Traralgon, Horsham and Bendigo.
