GRAFTON stalwart John Corrigan claimed the biggest win of his training career when Uno Nangar landed a drama-charged Ipswich Futurity Final (520m) on Saturday night.
The daughter of Primo Uno claimed the $30,000-to-the-winner finale by a length but it wasn't without incident.
Early leader Awesome Story and Uno Nangar came together off the top bend which turned the race on its head before a charging Kisses For Gran entered the fray before racing wayward and putting paid to her chances in the process.
At the finish it was Uno Nangar which continued to race true and ultimately land the feature female final in deserved fashion.
Finishing in the minor placings were kennel and littermates Mossy Boots and Dish For Dash for trainer John Mccarthy, beaten a length and 4 ¼ lengths respectively in the messy affair.
The winning time was 31.31 which reflected the nature in which the race was run and won.
And while the Mccarthy team had to be content with the minor end of the prize in the Futurity, it was a different story in the Ipswich Derby (520m), with Fast Eddie landing the prize in 30.51.
Another of the Aston Rupee x Pearl Za Diamond litter which featured in the Futurity, Fast Eddie offset box six to score for Ben Mccarthy at odds of 16/1, extending his career record to seven wins from 18 appearances.
Runner-up in the Derby was Backcreek Benny while sizzling heat winner Duffman filled third from box eight.
Saturday night's Ipswich card also saw a prelude of the Ipswich Cup staged with last year's Cup winner Bear's Bullet landing the race in 30.63.
The confidence boosting win will see the Travis Elson-trained daughter of Fernando Bale begin her Ipswich Cup defence in winning form.
