US Track Great Makes Instant Winning Impression

NEED My Moneynow was a superstar on the racetrack in the US and he has made an instant winning impression to his career at stud in Australia.

NEED My Moneynow was a superstar on the racetrack in the US and he has made a winning start to his career at stud in Australia.

His first starter, from the first litter he mated, was one of four winners for Peter Sims at Temora on Monday.

The appropriately named Good Pub Feed (Need My Moneynow-Little Bit Slack) ran 18.81 to win a 330m Maiden by five lengths as the $1.90 favourite.

And Peter Sims has a huge wrap on the youngster.

“Take it from me, he can go much quicker than that,” said Peter.

“I was a bit disappointed he didn't run up to what I expected, but the nerves might have got to him at his first start.”

Sims won two other heats of the Maiden with Fernando Bale-Steel Toes littermates Steel Lady, winning in 18.85, and Steel Heels in 18.70.

Sims landed the 1-3 Win (457m) with another of that litter when Dragging Boots went 25.53 to win by seven lengths.

“Good Pub Feed has always trialled a couple of tenths quicker than those two bitches who won the first two Maidens,” said Peter.

“But this dog has got a bit to learn.

“He had a wide draw, went up the track a bit early and that would have cost him a little bit as well.

“I'll probably go back to Temora again with him and will expect him to improve plenty.”

Need My Moneynow was twice a member of the US All America team. He broke the track record at Gulf Greyhound Park and won three feature races during 2015 and 2016.

“This dog has a really good temperament,” said Peter.

“I trained the mother Little Bit Slack and she was a 29.99 winner at Wentworth Park without having a look at the track.

“But she could also switch from 300 metres to 500m in a twinkling and win.”

He also believes Dragging Boots has a fine future ahead of him.

“He hasn't had a lot of work but is a great chaser,” he said.

“He's one of those dogs who throws himself at everything he does. When he learns to race he will be something.”
