Here is our runner-by-runner analysis of the eight finalists in the Group 1 Vic Peters Classic final at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

The $75,000-to-the-winner Vic Peters Classic (520m) is a Group 1 age classic for dogs and the 2023 renewal will be run at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

The John and Minnie Finn-trained Zipping Remus set the track alight last week when clocking the fastest time of the heats – a scintillating 29.49 seconds.

The son of Feral Franky has won seven of his 11 starts and jumps from Box 1 in the final.

Here is the runner-by-runner analysis of the field in the 2023 Vic Peters Classic.

1 – ZIPPING REMUS

Feral Franky x Zipping Tayla (Brindle Dog) $1.45

Exciting prospect that that set the track alight when winning his heat in the best of night time of 29.49, running 5.43 to the first mark and home in 11.69. He's two from two off this box and four from five of boxes one and two. Whichever way you look at the race, this is the one to beat.

VERDICT: Clear top pick.

2 – BE IN TOUCH

Fernando Blaster x Dulcafay (Black Dog) $17

He finished third in his heat behind Calypso Rogue. He has a Pb of 29.88 here, but he does lack pace, his first section PB is 5.51 from five starts. A strong chaser that is well drawn and should get a good run.

VERDICT: Chance of running into the minor money.

3 – HAS ABILITY

Fernando Bale x Bikini Cloud (White & Black Dog) $16

The most experienced dog in the finial having had 16 starts. He booked his place in the race when finishing second to Calypso Rogue and in eight starts here he's a two time winner with a PB of 29.80. Lacks pace, never gone quicker than 5.52 to the mark.

VERDICT: Not without a place chance.

4 – MY BANDIT

Fernando Bale x Kasreyn (Red Fawn Dog) $23

The inexperienced runner in the race with only five starts under the belt. Chased home Zipping Remus in his heat and in four starts at the track, his PB is 30.17. Another that isn't the sharpest from box rise with a first split PB of 5.57.

VERDICT: This looks too rich.

5 – NANGAR LARRY

Shima Shine x Nangar Diva (Black Dog) $13

Got run down late in his Wentworth Park debut in the heat when showing great mid race burn. Previously he had won in a mouth watering 29.35 at Dubbo over the 516m. Can be hit or miss at box rise but if he steps, he could give them something to chase.

VERDICT: The value runner in the race.

6 – TARAWI TIGER

Barcia Bale x Hello Mavis (Brindle Dog) $12

Took his record to eight wins from 14 starts when recording a 29.90 heat win, running 5.49 to the mark, home in 11.75. His heat win time is his PB here from four starts and he's not as well drawn this time.

VERDICT: Faces a task.

7 – AL'S ENTITY

Collision x Zara's Entity (Black Dog) $5

Former Victorian that booked his place in the final when second to Tarawi Tiger in his heat. The week prior to clocked 29.50 in a stewards' trial, running 5.48 early and 11.60 home. Has run 29.27 at Sandown and a winner previously from boxes seven and eight.

VERDICT: Fast dog when he does everything right.

8 – CALYPSO ROGUE

Sh Avatar x Knocker Elly (Brindle Dog) $16

Progressive pup that did a good job when winning his first start at Wentworth Park in the heat, running 29.93 with splits of 5.47 early and 11.96 home. Sure to be improved further but is going to need his share of luck from this draw.

VERDICT: Badly boxed.
