WATCH: Unraced Pup Smashes WA Record

AN unraced youngster from the Paul Stuart kennel smashed the Cannington 380m track record in a qualifying trial on Wednesday night.

AN unraced youngster from the Paul Stuart kennel smashed the Cannington 380m track record in a qualifying trial there on Wednesday night.

Jimmy's Jet (Fernando Bale-Aeroplane Annie) won the two-dog qualifying trial by 26 and a half lengths in 21.31.

The track record of 21.47 was set only a few weeks ago by Sassy Snickers.

Trainer Paul Stuart said he fully expected such a trial after Jimmy's Jet had trialled 21.35 last Thursday morning.

“He chases like he is possessed,” said Paul. “But, at this stage 400 metres will probably see him out.

“I will take him to Mandurah on Monday for a trial into the catching pen and he will probably make his race debut there tomorrow week.

“He has already trialled 16.70 over 300 metres at Mandurah so there is no chance of trying to hide him.

“He's such a fast young dog. He could eventually end up in Victoria for those one-turn 450 metre races.”

The merit of the trial effort by Jimmy's Jet is seen by the fact the 380m FFA on Wednesday night was won by West On Hazy in 21.80.

West On Hazy has won 21 races.

Jimmy's Jet's mother Aeroplane Annie is a daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and the Northern Rivers of NSW speedster Anja from the Frank and Edith Hancock kennel.

Aeroplane Annie raced only six times for three wins at Devonport and Launceston.

But, second dam Anja, won 14 of her 18 starts for the Hancocks.

It is the same family as Steve Kanavagh's superstar Louis Rumble (31 wins, $261,000).
