Week 5: Wings Night Preview

We preview a big evening of Thursday night greyhound racing action out of The Meadows, Albion Park, Dapto and Angle Park.

A big afternoon of Anzac Day racing shifts to the greyhounds this evening with the TAB's Wings Night promotions again in full swing, with a slight variation, Sandown replaced by The Meadows for this week only.

We roll into week five providing form and assessments for the enhanced multi offerings by TAB at The Meadows, Albion Park, Angle Park and Dapto – and being perfectly frank, let's just say we are not dealing with the elite of the elite at this week's programs.

Remember, for both retail and digital customers, bonus bets of up to $50 will be rewarded for greyhounds that finish second and third in races one and two across The Meadows, Dapto and Albion Park, while for those in retail venues in NSW, ACT and Victoria, that offer will be extended out to races three and four as well.

Retail and digital customers can again take advantage of Tab's ‘Early Bird Special', with fixed odds prices for all races at The Meadows, Dapto, Angle Park and Albion Park enhanced between the hours of 5pm and 7pm, with markets framed to a juicy 110%.

For week five of Wings Night, the TAB again returns with some enhanced multi prices, as well as markets for how many races ‘the wings' (boxes one and eight) will win at the four respective venues, an offer available at retail outlets only.

And remember for those using EBT's in-venue, these offers can be found in the sport section, under Racing Specials.

This week we'll be throwing our dosh at The Meadows and Angle Park enhanced multis – with some decent value to be had – the quartet of runners involved appearing to have quite good prospects in their respective events.

THE MEADOWS

$8.50 MULTI: Race 3 One Step Forward into Race 8 Wilbury

Let's hope we are after the first leg! I speak of One Step Forward who lines up from box one. Been a while between wins for this chaser but she's been in the money at 7 of her 10 Meadows outings and she finally returns to a decent box draw tonight. If she runs her best first section should lead, and expect she'll appreciate the inside tonight. Good show. Wilbury is an interesting runner, having his first start since mid-February. Won his only start here at the T/D in a quick 30.16 and that was from box five. Has a terrific overall record as well and if he's on song for his return should take a power of beating. Gets a decent tick from me.

ANGLE PARK

$7.00 MULTI: Race 3 Just Kenny into Race 7 Come On Enzo

Just Kenny is two for two when wearing the red rug and on that stat alone he's a live chance in what's quite an even race. Interesting that's he had the 11 starts and his two box one draws were at the start of his career, so hasn't seen the inside for a while now. This looks a winnable race and the odds are appealing as well. Most expect Come On Enzo to go around odds-on in the second leg and that seems a fair form assessment. Won nine of 34 overall, ran a sparkling 29.61 here four runs back, and if he lives up to that tonight will be winning. Looks a good combination this pair tonight.

DAPTO

$4.00 MULTI: Race 2 Shimmy Sparkles into Race 4 Electric Silk

Always a bit risky when we are dealing with a maiden event to kick things off but that's what we have before us. Shimmy Sparkles has placed at both her starts and the red box is a big plus, but early markets have her joint favourite with the black (7) and at a pinch, I'd be inclined to go the latter's way. The second leg, Electric Silk, is very talented and was hugely impressive last week. Expect she'll be winning and winning comfortably, so if you like the first leg don't let me turn you off, but I expect the black to be hard to beat. If you land the first leg you'll be on good terms with yourself coming into the second.

ALBION PARK

$8.50 MULTI: Race 3 Kealoah into Race 9 Miss Fernando

Kealoah has fired out the past two weeks for two spectacular wins, really liked how she gripped on last week to score. There's quite a bit of depth to this race tonight and while you never knock back the red, she will need to make full use if it early as she is a dog that doesn't mind racing a bit off the fence. In fact, she's had 16 starts from 1-2 for just three wins. Miss Fernando returned to the winners list last week with a 30.22 success, she's got plenty of speed and should look the winner for a long way, but expect a strong one may get on her hammer tonight. Few questions around this pair, but they are last start winners that are well drawn in good form.
