Winter Cup Heats Up At Healesville

THE Winter Cup final at Healesville this Sunday will be a keenly contested race after just two lengths separated the three heat winners last weekend.

Startron – trained by Wayne Vassallo – kicked off proceedings with a 19.37 heat win, making it nine wins from just 18 career starts. The son of Dyna Tron and She's Our Caviar will start from box six in the $6260-to-the-winner final.

The very speedy Avatar Minty (KC And All – Sabroni Mint) took out the second heat, continuing her recent good form with an all-the-way 19.44 win. The white and fawn chaser will start from box seven in Sunday's final.

The last heat was taken out by Jet Blaster (Spud Regis – Sweet Shine), who came from last to storm home to a fabulous 19.49 victory. The black chaser will start from box eight, a draw he used back in November to record his PB of 19.19.
