PREMIER trainer Jason Mackay held sway at an industry seminar prior to the Gold Muzzle Auction at Richmond recently and he did not hold back about the ability of Zipping Garth.

The son of Zulu Zeus-Zipping Abby looked on the verge of becoming a superstar when he ran 29.20 at The Gardens to remain unbeaten in five starts.

But tragedy struck and now Garth has been lost to the racetrack.

Mackay, while devastated to lose the chance to show off a potential great, relayed just what a super fast dog he was.

And he was quick to say Zipping Garth’s breeder and owner Marty Hallinan will give the dog every chance to prove himself at stud.

Jason said discussions with Hallinan about the dog’s future included mating such wonder race and broodbitches as G1 Golden Easter Egg winner Zipping Bailey and her illustrious dam Zipping Willow … among many, many of the Clergate star matrons.

Zipping Garth has an incredibly in-bred pedigree, his sire Zulu Zeus bringing in two crosses of Brett Lee and dam Zipping Abby introducing a cross of Brett Lee’s famous half brother Big Daddy Cool.

He also carries the strong cross of Rumble Spirit with similarly bred Token Prince (found twice in the pedigree of Zipping Abby).

Zipping Abby is also line bred three times to the Hallinan’s great producer Spanish Dance. Agent Gibbs, second dam of Zipping Garth, is bred on a 3×2 cross of the virtual sisters Miss Cruise and Prize Dancer. Both are by a son of Eaglehawk Star and both are daughters of Spanish Dance.

Putting Zipping Bailey (Barcia Bale-Zipping Willow) to Zipping Garth is a further infusion of the Spanish Dance family, but this time it will come via a 4×3 cross of the half relations Malfoy and Sirocco Lass. They are both out of the grand producer and former top staying bitch Many Tricks.

Malfoy and Sirocco Lass are strongly placed to impact with each other in this mating.

Also, the mating will bring in a 3×4 cross of the famous litter brothers Where’s Pedro and Hallucinate.

AND, to top off all this, champion sire Collision will also be duplicated 4×4 and come in via a daughter and a son.

Brett Lee comes in four times and his half brother Big Daddy Cool once.

Head Honcho comes in three times, via two daughters and a son.

Just The Best is also duplicated and balanced via son and daughter.

While there does appear to be lots of line breeding in the mating of Zipping Garth-

Zipping Bailey, it is still a fabulous cross.

There is not one outcross influence within the first five generations.

The Spring Gun/Barcia Bale link in the middle of this future pedigree is already found in the pedigree of 29.54 Albion Park winner Don’t Mind Me.

Jason Mackay will be waiting anxiously for the next few years when the result of the Garth-Bailey mating turns up in his kennels.
