Zipping Kansas Roars Into Gold Cup Final

ZIPPING Kansas has roared into next week's Group 3 Gold Cup Final (720m) with a dazzling 42.09 heat victory at Wentworth Park on Friday night.

Stepping out for the first time since his last placed finish in last month's Group 1 Association Cup, the Jason Magri-trained star was at his brilliant upon resumption to racing, overcoming a tardy beginning to land win 15 at start 25.

Running a bottler of a race to finish second was Holistic Key at monster odds for trainer Mark Davidson while Paris And Rome, another outsider filled third, for trainer Tom Rees.

The opening heat was annexed by perennial big race finalist Super Estrella, the David Smith-trained talent getting the job done by a decisive 6 ¼ lengths over Ziggy Stardust.

The daughter of Fernando Bale had finished in the placings in six group race finals before finishing fourth in the recent Association Cup.

In a race dominated by Super Estrella, In Your Time filled third at the monster odds of $81 while fourth was Queenslander Micks Recall which will also progress to next week's $50,000-to-the-winner decider.

The scene is set for an enthralling clash between Zipping Kansas and Super Estrella in next week's finale with the duo poised to dominate betting.
