Interstate Stars Scratched From Temlee

INTERSTATE stars Sentenced and Fire Legend are early scratchings from the Group 1 Temlee (525m) at The Meadows on Saturday night.

INTERSTATE stars Sentenced and Fire Legend are early scratchings from the Group 1 Temlee (525m) at The Meadows on Saturday night.

Owner Steve Williams confirmed the scratching of Sentenced with trainer Tony Brett advising he has a slight metacarpal problem.

Williams said there would be no way he and Brett would risk the youngster going into a group 1 against such tough opposition.

Sydney's Mark Moroney said his star sprinter Fire Legend had to come out after pulling up poorly after running in the Bathurst Cup last week.

“I got up during the night to check on him and his sister who both ran in the cup and Fire Legend had got rid of his dinner,” said Mark.

“But the next morning he had drunk a huge amount of water and tied up badly.

“I rushed him off to my vet Peter Yore and he immediately put him on medication.”

Moroney said there was also no way he would risk the dog.

“He would have to undergo a 10-hour car trip to Melbourne and in his current condition that was never going to happen,” he said.

Moroney said the not yet three-year-old sprinter has plenty of feature races coming up to be aimed for.

“It is disappointing not to be able to take on such a great race, but the Temora Cup in three weeks, then the Maitland Cup and finally the Golden Easter Egg are all on the horizon,” he said.

“The cup at Temora is in three weeks and hopefully he will be right for that.

“And I very much fancy his chances at Maitland. He is virtually unbeatable on a one-turn track.”

Yozo Bale and Faithy Bale now obtain starts in the Temlee.
