Rico's Stud Stocks Continue To Surge

SCOTT Brandon and his mates Danny Frazer and Dale Code have been “knocked over” by the response to a litter whelped just a month ago.

They are seven dogs and two bitches by Group 1 Melbourne Cup winner and Sandown track record holder Hard Style Rico from their former class act Dyna Quota (Dyna Double One-Jayney Bale).

“The litter was whelped late in May and already we have sold a couple at $4500 each,” said Scott. “And that came from someone who had seen the litter.”

Scott and his mates Danny and Dale are amazed at the quality of the pups even at such a young age.

“Beautiful pups, already very active,” Scott said.

“Yes, we will keep some ourselves, but others in the litter will be for sale.”

Dyna Quota was bought from the Wheeler family at a young age “very cheaply” but she went on to win 16 races and $54,000 and she became a top stayer in South Australia where she won the SA Distance Championship.

“She won seven Free For Alls at Angle Park,” Scott added.

“We did our homework on the potential mating to Hard Style Rico, liked the pedigree match-up and went for it.

“Rico was a pretty easy choice. A lot of champion dogs have been around Sandown and he's the fastest of them all.

“We'd heard he was throwing big sized litters and this was the case with our bitch as well.”

Dyna Quota is bred on the same cross, a double of the famed Wheeler bitch Luana Bale, as Dyna Double One's star stayer Dyna Chancer.

The Rico-Dyna Quota litter have line breeding to Flying Penske and Kiowa Sweet Trey, a great success in the US, and also bring in strong reinforcement of Head Honcho and Awesome Assassin.

It continues the fabulous start Hard Style Rico is enjoying at stud, serving a number of high quality bitches during his infancy in the breeding barn.
