She's A Pearl Ready To Tackle Rich Targets In 2023

Whispers that retirement could be imminent for She’s A Pearl have been quashed and connections are planning big in the first half of 2023.

Whispers in the back half of the year that retirement could be imminent for She's A Pearl have been quashed and connections are planning big in the first half of 2023.

The star daughter of Aston Dee Bee has returned home from her brave third behind Victorian champions Wow She's Fast and Amron Boy in last week's memorable The Phoenix.

"Incredibly proud of her run in The Phoenix," managing part-owner Joe Lannutti said.

"Once the map didn't pan out as expected and Wow She's Fast got straight there, we knew we were in trouble pretty quickly.

"To hold the champ off for as long as she did I thought was very credible.

"Hats off to the winner, she was too good but personally it was a great week and a big thrill because of the way she performed.

"She was only beaten a length and a quarter, we picked up $150,000 and it takes us to $1.52 million. It's just insane.

"She's still a superstar, one of the three out and out superstars of the sport that would be champions in any era."

Lannutti revealed She's A Pearl has three major targets in the next six weeks and if successful in the trio of races, another $315,000 will jump into her owners and trainer's pockets.

"We're going to have a go at the Gosford Gold Cup next week," he said.

"It's a $40,000 race, the track will suit and the race fits in perfectly before the Paws Of Thunder and the Gold Bullion in Queensland.

"We're going to take a team up.

"Punters HQ dogs going to Gosford are (She's A) Pearl, Good Odds Emma, Punters Bandit and Canya Wilder."

Lannutti also said the recent prizemoney splurges across the nation have been the catalyst for him to be thinking of target races in the middle of 2023 despite the fact she would be almost four years of age.

"She is absolutely going to continue racing because the prizemoney is too good to ignore," he said.

"What they are doing in New South Wales and Queensland means you have to keep racing.

"Now the Brisbane Cup is worth $650,000 for the winner and not that long after the (Golden Easter) Egg.

"Until Jodie says she's had enough and it's time – she'll keep racing."

Lannutti expressed a desire for She's A Pearl to be given the chance to become the first dog to win two Golden Easter Eggs.
